Let’s Investigate this Franchise: Enola Holmes 🔍
A Mystery is Afoot! 🔍
Are you looking for a franchise that has action, mystery, romance, cool sets, wonderful wardrobe, humor, and suspense? Let me present to you the Enola Holmes franchise! There are three films, and they are all made and produced in collaboration with Netflix.
Sherlock Holmes is a character created by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887. The character of Enola Holmes was created by Nancy Springer in 2006.
Smart women and hot men, what can I say? Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, Susan Wokoma as Edith & Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson. The cast has great chemistry, and in my opinion they work well together.
So without further ado, let’s investigate this franchise!

🎬 Letterboxd Review: Just as good as film 1! It had action, romance, mystery! I liked seeing more of the dynamic between Sherlock and Enola in this film. I also liked that it included some real life events that occurred.
📼 Letterboxd Rating: 3.4/5
🥤 IMDB Rating: 6.8/10
✨ My Rating: 4.5 ⭐
💭 Additional Thoughts: The story continues! Enola is having trouble with her detective agency until she gets the case. I really liked the case, and it had a lot of good twists and turns. It also was loosely based on a true story about the matchstick girls which I thought was pretty cool.

🎬 Letterboxd Review: Another good mystery! This one was a little bit predictable in some parts, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a few moments where Enola or Tewksbury were a tad bit annoying, but it was nothing that really took away from the movie. I did like seeing more of their relationship and the love the characters have for each other. Eudoria Holmes made quite a few appearances in the film. I also liked seeing more of Dr. Watson. I loved Enola’s wedding dress at the end of the film!
Eudoria: “Two handsome men in a tent. We’re very lucky Enola.”
Enola: “Mother, do you wish to say everything that comes to your mind?”
Eudoria: “Yes”
📼 Letterboxd Rating: 2.8/5
🥤 IMDB Rating: 5.7/10
✨ My Rating: 4 ⭐
💭 Additional Thoughts: I liked the seeing the progression of Enola and Tewkesbury’s relationship. They have some ups and downs. I thought this movie was a good continuation of the second film. Sherlock being kidnapped, and Enola having to solve it was pretty good.
Future of the Franchise & Final Thoughts
It seems that a fourth film may be in discussion. I have seen a few articles floating around about the potential of there to be a fourth film. I think it totally depends on how well the third film performs. In my opinion, I think the series should end here. I think it is one of those that if they keep going then it’ll feel repetitive and eventually fizzle out.
