Tubi: Where Anyone can Make a Movie! 🎬
There is a reason Tubi is free…
If you aren’t familiar with Tubi, it is another streaming platform that has the caveat of being free. Tubi has movies that aren’t considered mainstream although every month it may have a few. It mainly has a lot of TV movies and straight to DVD movies. Similar to other streaming platforms, Tubi has Tubi Originals. Unlike some of the other streaming platforms, Tubi has the ability for someone to upload their own self-made movie on the platform.
Here are some questions to ask yourself if you are looking for your big movie break:
- Do you have the desire to be a movie star?
- Do you have friends with a camera?
- Do you have a computer and access to some free editing software?
- Do you have some microphones?
- Can you write a script?
- Can you read a script?
If you answered yes to these questions, then you can most certainly make a movie and put it on Tubi! No acting skills required.
These are my opinions on some Tubi movies uploaded by aspiring directors. These are not Tubi Originals. This is not a dig at anyone who wishes to make a movie or anyone has produced a movie on Tubi. I am providing my thoughts and opinions on specific Tubi movies and not on the people in the movies.
Today we will be talking about a few gems on Tubi that I think need to stay hidden.

🚨Spoilers ahead🚨

🎬 Letterboxd Review: I- the last 20 seconds of the movie was the best part. The acting was mid. Kayla was psycho. Julian was a player. The bar was ridiculous. Don’t even get me started on the fancy restaurant which I’m pretty sure was the bar with black tablecloths and rose petals. I swear Ashely was eating rotisserie chicken out a bowl. Why was TJ’s first response to shoot Kayla???
“K-A-Y-L-A”
💭 Additional Thoughts: I watched this movie solely because of a clip I saw on Instagram which low and behold was the last 30 seconds of the movie.

🎬 Letterboxd Review: Arguably one of the worst films ever made. I think 1/2 a star is a little too generous, but I have to rate it.
“You lost your man and your bag in the same week.” Damn girl really kicking her while she’s down.
- It starts with saying it’s a “Greg Galloway ilm.” They literally forgot the f on film.
- It’s supposed to be at a cabin in the woods. Why tf are they at a house in a neighborhood????
- They spend way too much time talking about pasta.
- They play the same scene. TWICE.
- I think the actors legitimately have sex on screen, and it lasts entirely too long.
- The audio mixing is terrible and cuts in and out. It also gets super loud and super quiet throughout the movie.
- The cameras are seen multiple times throughout the movie (in the mirror in bedroom, at the table while they plan their weekend)
- They clip together three pieces of forest that I know are no where remotely near them.
- At 30 mins they leave the director telling them to “walk out the frame. Go to the car.” We then get a blooper of dialogue between them and the director. Then we get the same scene acted out again.
- There are so many fade to black cuts.
- At 31 minutes they start playing Frozen monopoly. They just started the game, but they somehow already have property. Make it make sense. They somehow finished a game in 3 minutes. They then play another round of monopoly. It has passage of time. The monopoly scene was ~5 minutes long. For what??
- It’s such a beautiful day out here. Bitch it’s nighttime and you’re sitting by a fire.
- Why do they keep bringing up college? How old are they? Weren’t Alex and Shaena just a fling?? Also how did Lily end up friends with Shaena. Why did she invite her on the trip without telling her partner??
- Let me have a serious talk. Wait gotta keep one AirPod in for a background track while I learn the truth.
- We don’t see the original scene for some parts but we see the new scene cut in. You can tell it was cut in because the characters aren’t even in the same spot for the cut.
- Why do we have three angles of Lily walking and crying after leaving the house??? And why did they choose horizontal format for one of the screens with three angles.
- Are they filming at their own house? Why is there so much stuff on the fridge if it’s supposed to be a cabin??
- He got a flashlight for walking around the neighborhood where there are literally street lamps seen behind them. Please why did they say a cabin in the woods 😭
- They said they found her. Then they proceed to still look for her. She’s right in front of y’all.
- “I cannot be the bitch that falls off in the woods.” Bitch tf you on you’re at a playground. You fell less than 1 foot. How did you hurt your ankle??
- The acting when Shaena gets shoved and pretends to fall back over the slide 💀
- She’s bleeding badly? She fell two feet off the ground.
- Hold up now she goes “in a white neighborhood at a park at night.” So what is the setting of this film????
- Why does he keep turning his blinker on?? It shows him going straight in the same lane.
- How far is the hospital? Where are they even driving too? Why do we have four angles in the car and none of them are good? Please for the love of God quit using the multiple angle screen frames.
- There was not a drop of blood on man’s hands. Then he immediately wipes his face with them???
- You can’t convince me that they had enough money to pay the water bill. There is basically no water in that shower. Her hair is magically up when she gets out the shower, yet it was down the whole time she was in the shower. She proceeds to take it down just to put it right back up.
- You’re telling me she just shoved pills down her friends throat while she was sleeping and her friend didn’t wake up 🤨 was that scene supposed to be in the hospital?? When did Shaena even go to sleep? When did Lily hatch this plan? I have so many questions.
- “We can’t keep dwelling on the past.” You just killed your friend like 30 mins ago… how are y’all already home from the hospital?
- The ending scene of Lily and Alex talking were the same lines but slightly different for entirely too long.
💭 Additional Thoughts: There are no additional thoughts. I said what I needed to say.

🎬 Letterboxd Review: Where do I begin? This is close to a lifetime movie plot. The plot itself wasn’t too bad, but it definitely could use some improvement.
For starters idk if it’s my TV or what but the picture is bigger than the screen which means the whole movie feels super zoomed in, and I missed half the texts sent.
The audio mixing was mid. There were scenes of dead silence. Then sometimes the music was super loud while other times way too quiet. Towards the end, static can be heard as the mic cuts in and out.
When they had their first meal together one of the wives, Netta, was talking, but the camera never once panned to her.
Why did the living room not get painted to cover the patches of other color or at least a picture over them??
The cutscenes are so frequent, and some of the shots are not Memphis. If you’re going to set the movie in a place and presumably film there, why use stock videos of other cities???
In regards to the plot (written as watched film):
Why did they not talk to the other wives about bringing a new woman in? What was the timeline of this relationship? We see them meet, have coffee, and then she’s already meeting them. She goes on a few more dates, and then all the sudden she’s engaged. What?? This was all within the first 19 minutes of the movie.
Why you just got 13k in a Manila envelope lying around in your house? Are the people dumb? It’s so obvious that Amy doesn’t like Summer. It’s clear she wants her out of the relationship. Why are the other people so oblivious? Wait never mind Netta notices it, and they talk about it. While they’re talking there is a random sex scene in between their thoughts.
At least tell Amy how to hold a camera 😭 also I don’t get why they don’t just kick her out of the house. It’s clear she is causing issues. Also what does Mook have that makes all these women want him? We barely see him. He also is a horrible mediator between the women.
Spoke too soon he does have somewhat of a backbone when Amy tries to talk to him. Now they see how jealous Amy is.
Unknown how many months later because the picture is too big for the screen.
Neeta’s acting while sick wasn’t half bad. A little extra, but that’s alright. Why did she say slow down when she was already talking slow? Why didn’t they call an ambulance? Why did the driveway seem so long?
How did Netta not hear Amy putting the big pills in her drink considering they made so much noise in the pill bottle. The blue tint over the interrogations was great. Why didn’t Mook or Summer say that Amy was jealous and doing all this stuff to her??? It’s obvious she has been poisoning Netta and blaming Summer.
Is Mook stupid? Obviously he can see Amy’s jealousy and how spiteful she is. Yet he lets her manipulate him to think that Summer poisoned Netta.
Oh yeah let’s kidnap her to get answers. What device did Amy use at Summer’s house(?)?? Also they said Netta was dead, but then we saw her in the hospital. The noise did not match her just having a breathing tube.
Yeah let’s leave the psycho girl with the tied up woman. Mook are you stupid??? The stabbing scene was so goofy. Why is Amy still carrying around the medicine in her bag?
Damn they didn’t even take Summer in. They listened to her statement standing outside the house. 💀
Why was Maurice gripping Amy’s boobs like that? Was he in on the plan? What was the point of the flashback? Who’s this new chick at the end?
So did Netta die?? We heard machines on at the hospital, but then they said she was dead. What was the ending?? It just ends and still feels unresolved.
Redeeming factor:
The movie is set in Memphis.
💭 Additional Thoughts: This movie might be slightly better than the last one. At least they were able to edit it well.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve seen any of these movies! If you know one that should be on the list, let me know and I’ll take one for the team and watch it… maybe.
Happy watching! 🍿
Until next time,
